Trivia Thursday - Pony Express?

I couldn't believe my eyes this morning when I received an email from my family. Wrexham had made it into a German newspaper!

I always try to raise my friends' and family's awareness of Wales and even to persuade them to spend their holidays here - more or less successful…

However I was rather surprised when I realised that it was the story of a man trying to board a train… with his pony. It has been all over the news but it never occurred to me that it would be of interest across the channel. The story is of a man who tried to board a train in Wrexham with his pony. When the train conductor refused to let him into the carriage, he even tried - unsuccessfully - to buy tickets for both of them to travel to Holyhead.

Assume he went on horseback in the end…

Here's the German newspaper article in the Express:

Chester Half Marathon

Can't help being disappointed, just done my best time for a half marathon but missed out on dipping under 1:40. Right now not sure if I'm motivated or fed-up.

Legs are quite stiff today will go for sports massage with The Chiropractor Clinic in Garden Village.

Had a great meal to restore my energy at the Grosvenor Pulford in Nelson's Crispy Chilli Beef lovveelly!

"Deutscher Dienstag - German Tuesday" Part 4

After a bit of a break it's time for some more German humour in advertising.

As I try to visit friends and family back in Germany as often as I can, I spend a lot of time at airports. And after the security check I like to get some sweets or coffee. But have you ever wondered how a luggage scanner or vending machine works?

"Life's too short for the wrong job" was a campaign for Jobsintown.de, a German online recruitment website, back in 2006. The agency Scholz & Friends, Berlin came up with the concept and the campaign won many advertising and marketing awards.

So if you're tired of working in a cramped office space maybe it's time to visit their site.

Derwent Competition winner!

We are extremely proud to announce that Alan Jones (a director of Mako Creative) has won the Decorate Derwent competition! His entry entitled “Derwent colours the world” was drawn with Derwent studio coloured pencils onto cartridge paper. This will be used as Derwent’s avatar on Twitter, Facebook and in some of their future advertising.

“I was completely blown away“ says Alan, “I never thought that my entry stood a chance as the standard of entries was so high! I really enjoyed drawing it, I wanted to convey something really bright, colourful, vibrant and fun, which of course represents Derwent’s culture!"
"I am over the moon and so proud to be the winner, especially from a company as large and as prestigious as Derwent."
Alan has just recently been inspired for his love of drawing to pick up his pencils and produce some wonderful artwork. He specialises in pets, wildlife and portraiture and has been busy producing a number of private commissioned pieces of work.

He works in graphite, coloured pencils and pastels from photographs.
You can see some of his work here
